Back to school...
A few blood tests later, one repaired tooth, and one wisdom tooth less I find myself back at school in SC. I drove 12 hours yesterday and arrived back to my humble South Carolinian home. While driving through the mountains and foothills of Tenn. and NC I realized how they are but hills compared to the Andes and the South of Chile. I had always thought they were beautfiul (they still are) but the Blue Ridge and the Appalachians really just pale in comparison when I think back to the volcanoes, cliffs, and massive ridgelines, that were the norm in the South of Chile.
As of now I have seen some old friends and unpacked a few t-shirts. Adjusting from this return from abroad hasn't been so difficult as the last time. I guess in many ways Chile wasn't so different from the USA. Also, I knew what to expect in readjusting, and taking the surprise out of anything makes it easier. Its funny, because most of my friends from Chile were on their first foreign study (some first time out of country) and now that they are back they can only comment on how weird things are. Its weird seeing old friends and old faces because really, everything is different. The best is when people ask "How was foreign study?" I like watching people try to explain, personally I just say it was good and then move on. While I would love to share my experiences with people if you weren't there experiencing it, seeing it, and most of all living it, you wouldn't understand.
As I sit here typing i have to say I am just a little sad. It is dawning on me that I have but three months left as a college student. After this no more frat parties, no more doing idiotic things and getting away with it because I in am college, and hopefully no more skunk beer. Its odd because at this time last year all I could think about was graduating and getting on with my life. Now, a year later and a year wiser (even without my wisdom tooth) I realize that I had best enjoy this whole no real responsibility thing because its going to end real quick when I live in a hut in Mongolia. This isn't to say I am not ready for the real world, I am just realizing that college is ending and that it doesn't happen again.
Well I am not going to be sad, I am just going to have a fun three months and hopefully when that is over I will find myself doing good in the world for the next two years. Hasta pronto.
